UMPIRING
Umpiring is a fantastic way to be part of the game, build confidence, and develop valuable life skills.
We offer a supportive and welcoming environment for umpires at all levels, with opportunities to develop through mentoring, clear pathways, and access to training via Netball Victoria.
Our umpires are essential in creating a fair, safe and enjoyable experience for all players.
We maintain a zero tolerance approach to child abuse and are committed to upholding the Child Safe Standards, ensuring all junior umpires feel safe, respected and supported. This includes promoting inclusion, valuing young people’s voices, and maintaining clear expectations around behaviour, safety and reporting.

Resources
All coaches & umpires are encouraged to download a free copy of the Rules of Netball issued by World Netball. English version accessible from the button below:
We find that regularly referring to the official rule book helps coaches & umpires build confidence in the correct terminology, regulations, court layout, hand signals, and all other components involved in coaching & officiating a netball match.
Combining your rule knowledge with on-court experience is the best way to strengthen your skills and progress on your coaching & umpiring pathway.
You can find helpful educational videos and resources on the World Netball Website, as well as the World Netball - Rules of Netball - 2024 Edition in Spanish, Hebrew & Chinese.

The Netball Skills Development Framework provides a nationally consistent guide for coaches, outlining the progression of skills from beginner through to elite levels. Knee and ankle injuries are the most common in netball, often occurring during landing, with ACL injuries making up a significant portion of serious cases. To help reduce the risk of these injuries, Netball Australia has developed the KNEE Program, designed to support safer movement and improve on-court performance. Whether you’re a coach, parent, support staff member or player, this program provides practical guidance to help keep athletes active, strong, and injury-free. For more information, please refer to the Netball Australia KNEE Program via the link below. -
